Labor Day Weekend

The last official weekend of summer. We hope everyone had a fun and relaxing weekend.

Back to School

Getting lots of back to school orders. Hard to believe it is already September 1! Does anyone else say "Rabbit" the morning of the first day of the month? To some it means good luck is coming. Whether or not, Labor Day certainly is. So are carpooling schedules, after-school programs, reading lists, trunks filled with backpacks and notebooks, cheerleading tryouts (actually those may have wrapped up by now), and marching band practices. When we take into consideration all busy moms and dads have to do it is no wonder our clients love us for thinking of them and making every piece machine washable. Can you imagine having to find the time to hand wash your child's clothing? Okay, maybe once in a while.

The Carousel

As the sun peeks over the horizon
Muscles bulge, wild eyes search
Looking for the familiar crowds
But seeing no one.

Teeth are bared, nostrils flare
Sniffing for the usual smells
Of corn dogs and fried onions
And all manner of things greasy.

The sun is up now, there's no sign of rain
Not a cloud is in the sky
Yet nobody is here.
Where is everyone, why don't they come?

Pricked ears strain, listening for laughter
But there is none.
Even the music from the gaudy band-organ
Has been stilled.

Where are the little feet
That kick against wooden flanks
Urging to go faster
Though it's not possible?

Where are the tiny hands
Eagerly clutching wind-tossed manes
Plastered against powerful necks
Stretching toward a finish line never quite reached?

A chill wind blows
Through the forest of brass poles
And the horses long to run
But no one sets them free.

Soon the surging steeds
Will be packed and hauled away
Far from this carefree place
By the sea.

Forced to spend the winter
In a dank storage shed
In silence and alone...
Until next summer.

Our Showroom, Come Visit Us

We're pretty proud of our showroom ... it's a "magical" place according to our customers. Come visit us and we'll give you a tour of the studio, grounds and gardens. Another League of NH Craftsmen's Annual Fair is in the history books and now, Children's Couture is "home sweet home." The Showroom reopened last Thursday, August 13th and will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10-4 for the remainder of the year. Please stop by when in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire ... we'd love to see you. New fall and winter pieces will be added to the line on a weekly basis come September, with many new styles to thrill your tween. It's never too early to shop for the holidays! If you cannot get to the Showroom, always feel free to call or email with any questions ... I'm here to help.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that came by my booth at the League of NH Craftsmen's Fair. It was a delight to see new faces and have a moment to chat with the public about my work. I thank you for your "awesome" comments and reaction, and do hope you will help me spread the word about Children's Couture.

I'd also like to thank all of my returning customers for their continued support. Your presence really says it all ... that Children's Couture produces quality apparel and accessories that not only delight the child, but the adult(s) as well. Seeing all of you again this year really made my days. Thank you again for your ongoing support of my work and coming by my booth to share your photos and stories.

Seeing Hats

We are seeing and selling lots of hats. Tis the season according to Glamour Magazine, which features Miley Cirus, Jennifer Aniston, Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Nicole Richie in fitting fedoras in the September issue.

Remember Children's Couture hats are not just for children. They can be created for teens and adults too!! Pick a hat design, pick your favorite fabric, and provide a head circumference measurement...that's all the CC team needs. For more information check out Accessories on the CC website.
